Emily Austin
Lead Data Scientist

Emily Austin holds a BA from Hampshire College and a PhD from The University of Tennessee and brings over a decade of data expertise to the table. She has worked in labs and field sites at Harvard Forest, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Kellogg Biological Research Station, and University of New Hampshire studying soil biogeochemistry.
As a research scientist, she mastered exploratory data analysis, experimental design, regression analysis, and multivariate statistics. This work resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
Throughout her career, she has consistently utilized R for statistical analysis and data visualization. Recently, she expanded her skill set by learning Python and completing a fellowship with The Data Incubator, gaining proficiency in advanced Python, scientific computing, machine learning, NLP, deep learning, time series analysis, Spark, graph theory, TensorFlow, and SQL. She continues to use R, Python, and SQL daily in her work with New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services where she queries relational databases, provides ongoing reporting, and manages a small team of data wizards.
When not immersed in data, Emily enjoys nordic skiing, biking to swimming holes, and knitting.
Michael Valcic
Lead Data Engineer

With over 10 years of experience in the data industry, Michael Valcic specializes in data science, data engineering, and managing digital marketing campaigns. He holds a Master’s degree in Data Analytics, which has equipped him with a deep understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
Throughout his career, Michael has worked in diverse environments, including startups, government agencies, and large multinational corporations. This varied experience allows him to bring a unique perspective to each project.
In his role at Kaleidic Data Solutions, Michael leverages his expertise to design and implement robust data solutions that streamline operations and enhance marketing strategies. He excels in developing predictive models, optimizing data pipelines, and creating compelling data visualizations that communicate key insights to stakeholders.
Michael is committed to continuous learning and staying at the forefront of technological advancements. His goal is to empower businesses with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in a data-driven world.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys playing tennis and composing new music in his studio.
